Hero Transit Employee Pulls Man Off Tracks Seconds Before Train Arrives After NFL Game

A California transit employee saved a man's life on Sunday after the guy fell onto the tracks as a train was approaching, CNN reports. Bay Area Rapid Transit supervisor John O'Connor is being hailed as a hero after he jumped down onto the tracks and pulled the man up onto the platform just seconds before he would have been struck. Passenger Tony Badilla, who witnessed the incident, said, "The crowd was shocked at just how close of a call it was, and the man was rattled. The BART worker was upset with the man for being so careless, but his emotions took over and the two embraced." BART released a statement about the incident, which happened after Sunday's NFL game between the Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions, saying the unidentified man was intoxicated and accidentally fell onto the tracks. "I thought the train was going to cut him in half, honestly," says O'Connor, who's worked for BART for 24 years. "I didn't want to see this guy die." In possible other good news for the drunk guy, the hometown Raiders beat the Lions, 31-24.
