Trump Responds to Ethiopian Jet Crash by Tweeting That Planes Are "Too Complex to Fly"

March 13, 2019

President Trump responded to the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 that killed 157 people this week by tweeting that planes are too complicated. "Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT," Trump tweeted Tuesday. "I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better." He added, "I don’t know about you, but I don’t want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!" Needless to say, Twitter took him to town for his bizarre comments. "Between Tim Apple and Airplanes are too Complicated, Trump is gradually transforming into Grandpa Simpson," one Twitter user joked, while another tweeted, "Trump 2020: Dumb down those highfalutin airplanes."
