22-year-old transgender model Valentina Sampaio has reportedly been hired to work in an upcoming campaign for Victoria's Secret, E! Online reports. If true, the Brazilian would be the first openly transgender model to ever work for the company. Sampaio posted an image on Instagram that she said was from a photo shoot for the company's PINK line. The famous lingerie retailer has yet to confirm Sampaio's hiring, but the company is in the midst of a rebrand attempt amid sinking sales, and hiring Sampaio would also help smooth over controversial statements made last year by marketing honcho Ed Razek, who had balked at the idea of using transgender or plus-size models at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show during an interview with Vogue. Razek has since apologized for his comments, saying they were insensitive. "To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We've had transgender models come to castings...and like many others, they didn't make it...But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are." Sampaio told fans on her Instagram Sunday, "Life is amazing... Love more and hate less, hate is useless, just do not waste time with it!"
