Tinder Breaks Into Scripted Original Content, Wraps Filming 1st Video Series

Popular dating app Tinder may have just come up with its best innovation since the swipe. Reuters reports that the app just wrapped filming its first multi-episode television series in Mexico City, that surprisingly has an "apocalyptic" storyline that doesn't tie directly to its core dating app business. A source says Tinder's foray into scripted online entertainment is part of a broader move by owner Match Group Inc., who hopes to use episodes to engage users even when they are not using the service. Tinder is not the only non-traditional corporation reportedly moving in this direction. Airbnb, Walmart and Costco are all reported to have ambitions to create original episodic programming.
