Lover has nearly gone platinum before it's even out. Variety reports that Taylor Swift's new album, which finally arrives this Friday, has already racked up "pre-sales quickly approaching one million copies globally,” according to Republic Records founder Monte Lipman. If the LP indeed sells a million copies in its debut week, it'll be the first album to do so in the U.S. since Swift’s last album, 2017’s Reputation. That release, which was also her final LP released via Big Machine, has sold more than 2.2 million copies in America overall. Meanwhile, 1989 stands at 6.2 million copies sold in the U.S.
