Study Reveals Highest Concussion Rates in High School Sports

October 16, 2019

Boys' football, girls' soccer and boys' ice hockey ave the highest concussion rates, according to a new study. CNN reports that the study, published in the journal Pediatrics, examined over 9,000 concussions across 20 high school sports to determine which had the highest concussion incidents. The majority of those events occurred during competitions or games. Cheerleading was the only sport found to have higher concussion rates during practice. "We need more studies at the high school level, and even backing it up further with the little kids, to get and better understand this issue," says one expert.
