Star-Studded Global Goal Concert Raises Over 6 Billion Euros for COVID Relief

Advocacy Group Global Citizen teamed up with the European Commission and a slew of stars including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson and many more for a virtual concert held on Saturday, RFI reports. The event raise over 6.5 billion euros from both public and private donors. Cyrus performed a rendition of the Beatles' "Help," while Hudson sang "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" from atop a boat in Chicago. Usher, Justin Bieber and Quavo, J Balvin, Chloe x Halle, Yemi Alade, and Christine and the Queens were among the other acts that performed. World health experts and political leaders also appeared during the livestream, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying, “As we fight this virus, we also need to take care of the most vulnerable people and address the challenges they’re facing right now." Angelique Kidjo, Melinda Gates, Dr. Vin Gupta, Ken Jeong, Charlize Theron, Hugh Jackman as well as retired soccer star David Beckham were among the other notables to appear. The show concluded the Global Goal: Unite For Our Future campaign.
