Western New York residents are going to be getting some help from the local sports industry. Pegula Sports & Entertainment in partnership with both the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills foundations will provide a least $1.2 million in aid directly to the community throughout the pandemic.

The two team foundations will contribute to the newly-formed Western New York COVID-19 Community Response Fund. In addition, 18 different foundations in Western New York have come together to commit over $4 million to regional non-profit agencies in need.

Some funds will also go to FeedMore WNY and the Rural Outreach Center just outside Buffalo.

The remainder of the aid will be directed to areas that need it most, including support for nurses, hospital workers, first responders and protective and medical equipment supplies.

Pegula Sports & Entertainment owns the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Americans, and Rochester Knighthawks.
