On Wednesday, several small children from a church group were playing in a creek in West Alexandria, Ohio, when an adult chaperone "saw a shadowy object moving" and shouted for the kids to get out of the water, according to one of the children's teachers, Rick Turnbull. That "shadowy object" turned out to be a seven-foot crocodile; local authorities believe it to be a former pet that was released into the creek when it got to be too big. Ironically, Turnbull says his students had just completed a lesson about how to protect themselves from predators, which is now "a lesson that these kids will never forget."
