New Orleans Newspaper Prints Super Bowl Shade on Front Page Monday

February 4, 2019

As NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged last week, the New Orleans Saints would have been in the Super Bowl were it not for the worst no-call in football history in the NFC Championship Game versus the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams lost 13-3 to the New England Patriots in Sunday's showdown, but you wouldn't have known it from reading The Times-Picayune's front page on Monday. The New Orleans newspaper printed, "Super Bowl? What Super Bowl?" on a page that was blank save for "Super Boring" at the bottom of the page. As previously noted, several Crescent City bars aired a replay of the Saints' 2009 Super Bowl victory instead of Sunday's game, which proved to be a savvy move from an entertainment standpoint.
