Natalie Portman will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not just as Thor's love interest. In fact, this time she'll be the titular superhero. Portman confirmed the news on Saturday, during a Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Before Portman took the stage, director Taika Waititi told the audience that "there's only one person" who could play the female Thor. The actress then took the stage and was handed a hammer, at which point she said, "This feels pretty good. I've always had a little hammer envy."  Portman had appeared as Jane Foster in the first two Thor films, but didn't appear in 2017's Thor: Ragnorak. However, footage of Portman in the summer blockbuster Avengers: Endgame spurred speculation that she would be returning to the franchise.
