Miley Cyrus Undergoes Vocal Cord Surgery, Will Require Weeks of Silence to Recover

November 11, 2019

Singer Miley Cyrus is currently recovering from vocal cord surgery, and as part of her recovery, won't be able to to speak for several weeks, People reports. The injury was discovered last month after the singer was hospitalized for tonsillitis, and doctors informed her that she had a separate issue that would require surgery before the end of the year. Cyrus' boyfriend Cody Simpson appeared to acknowledge the surgery in a social media post of the singer Friday, with the caption "Success." Nearly three weeks ago, Cyrus told fans she was "on vocal rest," and she hasn't publicly performed since late September. A source told the outlet that Cyrus was “doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year.”
