Kids Around the World to Skip School Friday to Demand Action on Climate Change

March 13, 2019

Kids around the world--including in all 50 U.S. states--plan to skip school on Friday in order to demand legislative action on climate change. CNN reports the the #FridaysForFuture event took flight in August 2018, when a 16-year-old named Greta Thunberg began skipping school every Friday to protest outside Swedish parliament. In an open letter published in The Guardian earlier this month, the student activists called climate change "the biggest threat in human history," and are calling for countries to commit to reducing greenhouse emissions.
