Germany Stands By "Sexist" Bike Helmet Campaign

March 26, 2019

The German Transport Ministry said on Monday it "will stand by" a recent bike helmet safety campaign that critics have described as "sexist." According to the AP, the image shows a handful of seemingly naked men and women wearing bicycle helmets and uses the English-language slogan, “Looks like s**t. But saves my life." Some people are upset by the suggested nudity, commenting on how people can wear helmets even when they're not naked. Transport Ministry spokeswoman Svenja Friedrich said the agency "can absolutely understand the criticism from various sides."
