Is this what they mean by kindergarten cop? CBS News reports that a Florida police officer has been fired after arresting two 6-year-olds in separate incidents at the same charter school last Thursday. Dennis Turner was found to have violated Orlando PD policy in making the arrests, as cops are supposed to obtain the approval of a watch commander before arresting anyone under age 12. While initial reports indicated that Turner had arrested a 6-year-old and an 8-year-old, police clarified on Monday that both children were 6-year-olds. One of them, Kaia Rolle, was arrested on a battery charge, handcuffed and taken away in a police car after allegedly throwing a tantrum at Lucious and Emma Nixon Academy. "No 6-year-old child should be able to tell somebody that they had handcuffs on them, and they were riding in the back of a police car and taken to a juvenile center to be fingerprinted, mug shot," says her grandmother, Meralyn Kirkland. Both children were ultimately released from custody, with all charges dropped, although one of them was fully processed before their release.
