Ex-Atlanta Cop Who Killed Rayshard Brooks Charged With Felony Murder

June 18, 2020

Garrett Rolfe, the police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks in a Wendy's parking lot last week, has been charged with felony murder. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard announced Wednesday that Devin Brosnan, the other Atlanta cop on the scene when Brooks was killed, also faces charges including aggravated assault. The news comes five days after Rolfe shot the 27-year-old Brooks twice in the back as he attempted to flee arrest. Rolfe had already been fired by the Atlanta PD after pulling the trigger, while Brosnan had been put on administrative duty. CNN reports that arrest warrants have been issued for both suspects and they have been asked to surrender by Thursday.
