The Empire is crumbling! ET reports that the FOX music-biz drama will come to an end at the end of its sixth season next year. The hip-hop drama will also return to its original time slot of Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT for its final season. "We're turning the final season of Empire into a large television event," FOX Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told reporters on Monday. "One of the great benefits of announcing a final season is to allow the fans to lean in and to have the ending they deserve, and that's everything we're trying to do with this iconic series. Six years is a pretty remarkable run for a drama series and we feel good about it." The news comes about two weeks after FOX announced that Empire would be renewed, but with "no plans" for actor Jussie Smollett to return as Jamal Lyon after he allegedly staged a hate-crime attack against himself in order to negotiate a pay raise on the show.
