Sean “Diddy” Combs announced on Monday that his hit series, Making the Band, will be rebooted in 2020. “MTV and I are back together again!! Making the Band is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge,” Diddy says in a statement shared by Billboard. “MTB on MTV was the pioneer of reality TV. We're going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world it's next global superstars. Making the Band made its debut on ABC in 2000 when former Backstreet Boys and ’N Sync manager Lou Pearlman launched the show and formed the boy band O-Town. Diddy re-vamped the show for MTV in 2002, and helped spawn musical acts Da Band, Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang. Rumors about the revival started last week, when Diddy asked his social media followers if he should bring back the series.
