Some confusion persists about whether hand sanitizer can be effective against coronavirus, according to Lifehacker. In fact, hand sanitizer can indeed work to kill coronavirus. The alcohol in it disrupts germs' outer coating; this isn't the case for all bacteria and viruses, but it is true for coronaviruses. In fact, on its coronavirus protection page, the CDC recommends hand sanitizer that has at least 60 percent alcohol; it's important to look because not all sanitizers contain alcohol. Of course hand washing is preferable if it's possible; wash for about 20 seconds to the tune of "Happy Birthday."
