A sign was posted outside the JungleWorld exhibit at the Bronx Zoo Wednesday, warning visitors that a venomous snake had escaped from the exhibit and was likely on the loose inside the zoo. UPI reports that zoo officials believe the 3-and-a-half foot mangrove snake slipped through a mesh covering Tuesday night, and was likely still in the JungleWorld area of the zoo. Zookeepers downplayed the danger to visitors, saying the mildly venomous snake was shy and primarily nocturnal, and didn't post a serious threat to the public.
