Britney Spears Granted 5-Year Restraining Order Against Ex-Manager Sam Lufti

June 14, 2019

Britney Spears' temporary restraining order against former manager Sam Lufti was extended to five years in a California court on Thursday. According to the AP, the order prohibits Lufti from contacting Spears or her family; it also forbids him from making disparaging statements about the Spears clan online. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny rejected arguments from Lutfi’s attorney claiming that the order is an unconstitutional restraint on his free speech. Penny also found credible the testimony from Spears' dad, Jamie, who said in court, “I worried that [Lufti> was trying to take down the conservatorship." Lutfi allegedly attempted to incite fans to criticize Jamie's conservatorship control over Britney using the hashtag "#FreeBritney."
