May 29, 2019

Alex Trebek is no longer in grave "jeopardy" after revealing three months ago that he'd been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In fact, the 78-year-old Jeopardy! host now tells People he's "near remission," according to his doctors. “It’s kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek says about his body's response to chemotherapy. "The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.” He adds that he cried "tears of joy" upon hearing the news, but that he'll still have to undergo several more rounds of chemo. Trebek's news is all the more amazing, considering pancreatic cancer has a nine percent survival rate.
