700 Pets in Overcrowded Shelters Are Rescued for Valentine's Day

February 15, 2019

Over 700 dogs and cats got a second chance on Valentine's Day. The program Flights to Freedom flew the animals from overcrowded kill shelters in the southern United States to other parts of the country where it is easier for them to get adopted. People reports that seven flights took place on February 13 and 14, including one bringing 140-plus dogs and cats to Seattle. All of the critters were treated to snacks after their flights landed. Based on their past rescues, Flights to Freedom expects all of the adoptable animals to be in new homes in the next two to three days.
