President Trump Accuses Spike Lee of "Racist Hit" During Oscars Speech

February 25, 2019

While accepting his award for best adapted screenplay at Sunday's Oscars, Spike Lee brought up the 2020 presidential election, saying, "Let's all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love and hate." Although Lee made no mention of President Trump, the latter took the BlacKkKlansman director's speech personally, tweeting Monday that Lee put out "a racist hit on your President." Trump added that he'd "done more for African-Americans" than "almost" any other president.
