Obit of New Orleans Saints Fan Says He Chose to Die Before Super Bowl

February 7, 2019

New Orleans Saints fans are still (rightfully) bitter over the blown call that cost them a trip to the Super Bowl. In fact, the obituary of one mega-fan even made it a point to note that he decided to die before the big game. According to The New Orleans Advocate, the funeral listing for 65-year-old Henry A. Jaume, Sr., who passed away at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, noted in the second line that he was "determined not to watch Super Bowl LIII." Deadspin points out that the obit makes this point "before his military service or work as a police officer or his wonderful charisma or his beautiful memories with his wife and 'loyal fur buddy.'" Jaune's obit naturally went viral, with fans calling him "a true hero," among other things.
