New Kids on the Block Salute Boy Bands With New Single "Boys in the Band"

March 1, 2019

New Kids on the Block may now be middle-aged, but they prove they can still kick it with the kids in their latest single, "Boys in the Band (Boy Band Anthem)." The song dropped Friday, complete with a hilarious music video that opens with the reunited boy-banders shuffling into a high-school classroom with canes and walkers while dressed up as old fogies to give a lecture on the "History of Boy Bands." They then sing and rap about everyone from Jodeci and One Direction to Boyz II Men and BSB. They also recreate famous snippets from *NSync's "Bye Bye Bye" video and their own "Hangin' Tough." But wait, there's more! The throwback cameos include Lance Bass, Debbie Gibson and members of New Edition. “Boys In The Band” is one of three new tracks that will appear on NKOTB's 30th anniversary reissue of their 1988 album, Hangin’ Tough, which arrives on March 8. They previously dropped the new song “80s Baby,” featuring Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, and Naughty By Nature. All of those artists will also perform on the upcoming Mixtape Tour, kicking off May 2 in Cincinnati.
