Jussie Smollett Surrenders to Police After Being Indicted for Filing False Report

On Thursday morning, Jussie Smollett turned himself in to Chicago police to face his felony charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. The news was confirmed by spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, who tweeted that the actor "is under arrest and in custody of detectives." ABC reports Smollett surrendered at 5:15 a.m. and gave a statement to police. Guglielmi added that a press conference is planned for 9 a.m. CT, where officials will "brief reporters on the investigation prior to the defendant's appearance in court." A bond hearing is also set for 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.
