Cecilia D'Urso's smartphone had started to become more trouble than it was worth. “Every second of my life I was available and online on every platform,” the 22-year-old art student tells The Wall Street Journal. So she went ahead and purchased a second phone that is only capable of calling and texting, and now only uses her smartphone when she needs to post her artwork on Instagram. Scooping up a second, dumber phone has become something of a trend. Silicon Valley tech worker Dan Dolar now ditches his Samsung Galaxy Note 9 on weekends in favor of a more basic phone, which has allowed him to spend more quality time with his daughter. "I'm not compelled to get that dopamine rush," he says.
