How is Confederate Memorial Day still a thing in these states?!

April 24, 2017

I’m usuuuually all for holidays and taking off work, but there are a couple of states down south that have offices closed today (Monday, April 24) for Confederate Memorial Day.

Mississippi and Alabama are the two states that still celebrate this old holiday, which honors the confederate soldiers who died fighting for the Southern States that tried to secede from the U.S. during the Civil War more than 150 years ago.

I repeat...MORE THAN 150 YEARS AGO. And they lost. They know that right?

It's 2017. This should not be a thing.
