Yeet! Ohio TV News Team's "Turnt" Teen-Slang Broadcast Leaves Viewers Cringing

March 28, 2019

This week in Toledo, Ohio, The Washington Post reports that public-school students have been taking mandatory state tests. On Wednesday, to lighten the mood, the WTOL-11 morning news team decided to kick off its telecast with a ton of teen slang. "It is testing week and it's time to slay all day," said anchor Melissa Andrews, to which her colleague, Tim Miller, replied, "Yeet! Stay woke, be on fleek and get that Gucci breakfast." Andrews then said, "Goals! Say, 'By Felicia,' to that testing stress. Weather's going to be turnt, right, Chris?" Meteorologist Chris Vickers then replied, "Yaaaaass. Toledo weather going to be v-lit during testing week. A 'hundo p' chance of success. You've got this kids." Vickers then asked Steven Jackson for a traffic update, wondering, "Are we looking okurrr?" Jackson replied, "Better than okurrr. We're talking turnt. FOMO won't be an issue." Suffice it to say, footage of the newscast has gone very viral, with many people wondering whether it was an early April Fools' joke.
