Resident orthopedic surgeon Dr. Elvis Francois, who has been going viral for some time now because of his fantastic voice, is releasing his first EP on Friday. The Associated Press reports that all proceeds from the EP, called Music is Medicine, will go to The Center of Disaster Philanthropy COVID-19 Response Fund. "I’m just honored to be able to share a bit of music with people, especially during these trying times,” Francois said in an interview. “What we do as surgeons, what we do as physicians goes a very long way, but music moves people in a way that medicine can’t.” Weeks ago he was contacted by two executives from Scooter Braun's Big Machine Label Group. Francois recorded the four-song EP on the brand new Doctor Elvis Records. Fellow resident Dr. William Robinson, who regularly accompanies Francois on the piano, joins him in performing “Imagine,” “Lean on Me,” Andra Day’s “Rise Up” and Mike Yung’s “Alright.” “We see health care providers who are getting impacted... I felt like the one thing we could do, if anything, was to use this momentum and use this energy to give,” he said. Music Is Medicine will be released Friday on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and other outlets.
