Trump Says He'll "Take a Look" at Pardoning Joe Exotic

April 9, 2020

During Wednesday's White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, President Trump said he'd "take a look" into pardoning Joe Exotic, according to Pop Culture. Exotic is currently serving 22 years in prison for attempted murder and animal cruelty charges. Trump was asked about the Tiger King star by Steven Nelson from the New York Post, who said he was asking in part because of Trump's eldest son's comments about the man. After asking reporters to weigh in and smiling, the president said, "I'll take a look." Fox News reports that Donald Trump Jr. had appeared on a radio show Monday and called Exotic's sentence "aggressive." “Now, I don’t even know exactly what he was charged with… it doesn’t seem like he was totally innocent of anything. But when they’re saying, ‘We’re putting this guy away for 30 years,' I’m saying that seems sort of aggressive,” Trump Jr. said. He added, “you know what the real tragedy is right now from that whole show? None of us knew that you could have had a pet tiger for like two grand."
