Tom Brady joined Twitter on April Fools' Day--and promptly announced that he was quitting football. "I'm retiring. In my spare time, I'll be tweeting," he wrote. As you might have suspected, this turned out to be untrue. "Was this a bad joke?" the 42-year-old New England Patriots quarterback tweeted about an hour after his faux retirement announcement. As a ploy to attract Twitter followers, however, it worked fabulously, as ESPN reports that Brady picked up more than 34,000 followers within half an hour of his initial tweet.
