Should Your Kids Open Their Presents at Their Birthday Party?

March 14, 2019

Kids these days tend not to open birthday presents at their party. Either they open them after the party's over, or their parents stipulate, "No gifts, please," on the invitation. But Lifehacker argues that allowing your children to open presents in front of friends and family is a great way to teach them about being both a thoughtful gift-giver and gift-receiver. If you're worried about some gifts being more lavish than others, "consider putting a note on the invitation that indicates that homemade gifts or gifts under $10 would be appreciated," the site suggests. And no matter what you decide to do, always remember that birthday parties are supposed to be fun.
