An old telephone pole on the corner of 3rd and Federal in Philadelphia's Jefferson Square became the unlikely subject of a viral Twitter feed over the weekend, CNN reports. The old pole has been slated for removal, and someone stapled a touching farewell note on it. "I just wanted to say it's been my pleasure to be your corner telephone pole for many years now," the note read. "It looks like I'll soon be replaced. Probably by the young pole there on the ground." The note went on to "remember" its role in the changing neighborhood, where it held "street signs, electric wires, telephone wires, cable, a light and lately this transformer" for many years. A spokesman for PECO Energy told the outlet the pole was coming down, and the old pole is likely to be recycled. The pole has been at that location since at least 2007.
