Larry the Cat Returns Home After 5 Years & 20 Miles

March 16, 2019

A cat that went missing more than five years ago returned to his home after turning up in Salisbury this week. Newbury Port News reports that the tabby cat, named Larry, was reunited with his owner Elinore Repucci in Essex, England, after failing to come back home from a walk in August 2013. “I live near the woods and I figured, ‘Well, maybe an animal got to him,’” Repucci recalls. “That was how I reached some closure in my mind.” On Thursday, however, Repucci received a phone call from the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society in Salisbury--20 miles away. “I figured they were calling because someone was adopting a pet and they needed a reference or something,” Repucci explains. “Then, they asked me if I was missing a cat. I told them I wasn’t, but they said they had a cat there that had a microchip that was registered to me. I thought, ‘No way. No way.’” While Larry is doing well, he is missing part of a paw, which appears to have healed over time.
