The main character of the Hunger Games prequel novel is not anyone you'd expect, according to Den of Geek. Author Suzanne Collins has chosen to make Coriolanus Snow, president of Panem and villain of the Hunger Games novels, her protagonist this time around. In the prequel novel, called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Snow is a charming, and at times heroic, student. The story takes place 64 years before the events of the first Hunger Games novel. “With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival," Collins says. The time period in the novel "provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.” The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be out in May 2020.
