Couple Spends Most of $120,000 Accidentally Deposited in Bank Account, Gets Arrested

September 9, 2019

This past June, a BB&T bank teller accidentally deposited $120,000 into the account of Robert Williams and his wife, Tiffany. Over the next two weeks, the Pennsylvania couple proceeded to spend over $100,000, embarking on a spending spree that included the purchase of a Chevy SUV, a camper, a car trailer, and a race car. After the bank realized its error, it asked the couple to repay the money, to no avail. They were ultimately arrested on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and released last week on $25,000 bail after being arraigned.
