Over the weekend, an Australian couple became the first to have an official KFC wedding, according to News.com.au. Kate and Harrison Cann from Toowoomba in Queensland entered a contest last year from the fast food retailer. Their first date had been at a KFC; Kate entered with a pity rap-style essay about their love story, set to the tune of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air." Their wedding came complete with decorations, a KFC wedding cake, personalized chicken buckets, a photo booth and a food truck. They also had a Colonel-like singer to perform. The couple said in a statement, “We’re over the moon to have been selected for the first ever KFC wedding and having the Colonel present on our big day took us back to the first meal we shared together – KFC." They later told TODAY Australia, "the reactions we’ve had and the feedback we’ve had has been extraordinary"--the couple surprised their friends and family with the event. People hoping to marry the same way as the Canns can still request an official KFC wedding before May 2020 at https://www.kfc.com.au/weddings.
