Breakdancing Could Become an Olympic Sport at Paris 2024 Summer Games

February 22, 2019

Breakdancing may become a sport at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. "It's a victory for us. Even if it goes no further, we'll still have won," French breaker Mounir Biba told NBC News, which notes the "sport" was well-received at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games. The format of Olympics breakdancing would be "battles" between solo dancers and teams. Other sports also being considered for Paris include surfing, skateboarding and climbing, all of which are already a go for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. At any rate, the International Olympic Committee has final say over whether all of these sports are greenlit for Paris, and won't make a decision until after the Tokyo games.
